Shirley Anne Penny

DURHAM- Shirley Anne Penny, 81, passed away Thursday March 2, 2017 at her home.
Shirley was born and raised in Durham, NC where she attended and graduated from the Durham County schools. Ms. Penny then worked and retired from GTE after 30 years of service. She loved her four legged friends and loved to travel to the Holy Land. Ms. Penny will be remembered as a devoted Christian who loved the Penny homeplace.
Ms. Penny was preceded in death by her parents George and Essie Penny; brother, Bobby Penny; sisters, Vivian Andrews and Betty Gooch.
She is survived by her nephews, Mike Andrews (Pam), Phillip Penny, Bobby Penny (Martha), Thomas Penny (Ginger), Robert Gooch (Jackie), and Rodney Allen; nieces, Deborah Andrews, Barbara Brown, Sheryl Michael and fiancé, Paddy Shetley, and Carol McCreedy (Steve); and sister-in-law, Joyce Penny.
Graveside services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday March 7, 2017 at Olive Branch Baptist Church Cemetery. Officiating will be Rev. Tim Wheeler.
