Shirley Parnell

PERSON COUNTY-Shirley Russ Parnell, 74, of Person County died on Thursday, April 5, 2012. She was the daughter of the late I.H. Russ and Eula Page Russ. She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church for 45 years and a servant of others in many ways. Ms. Parnell graduated from Bethesda High School Class of 1956. She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas “Tinker” Parnell, Sr.She is survived by one son, Thomas Parnell Jr. “Pete” and wife Shelia of Timberlake; one daughter Cheryl Parnell Mayton and husband Danny of Timberlake; Five brothers, Bobby Russ and wife Rose, Wayne Russ, Bennie Russ and wife Laurie, David Russ and wife Phyllis and Dwayne Russ. Two sisters, Esther Hunt and Ruby Oakley and husband Cliff. Six grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Liberty Baptist Church. Dr. Jack Cox, Rev. Ray McCormick and Rev. Ron Christ will officiate. Burial will be on Monday at 11:00 a.m. in Woodlawn Memorial Park.The family will receive friends on Saturday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home. Flowers are acceptable.
