Sidney Llewellyn Procter, Sr.

April 17, 1947 — April 4, 2010

Sidney Llewellyn Proctor Sr. passed away on April 4, 2010 after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born on April 17, 1947 to Leroy and Anne Proctor. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Betty Proctor, his three children, Sidney L. Proctor Jr. (Jackie) of Efland, Cindy Dayton (David) of Fuquay, Stacye Bussiere (Jody) of Utah; brothers, Frank, Rick and Nat Proctor; Sister Cindy Foltz: grandmother, Mrs. Thelma Proctor: eight grandchildren, Jessica, Michael, Koty, Caroline, Calvin, DJ, Jarod, and Nevada: and numerous extended family members. Sid served in the United States Army, including Vietnam where he earned the Bronze Star. In 1983, the Lord called him into the ministry. In 2008 Sid realized a long time dream when he and his wife retired to their new home in the mountains of Tennessee, becoming a resident of Greeneville. It is there that he began the end of his journey. In January of this year, Sid was diagnosed with stage IV pancreatic cancer. Although he did not want to leave his family, Sid knew that it was time to move on to his Heavenly home. Sid had four true loves in his life, His Lord and Savior, his wife, his family, and music. Sid never truly retired from his service to the Lord. He took every door opened to him to proclaim the Word of God. His wife Betty was his everything. He fell in love with her immediately and has loved her with his whole heart for 43 years. Taking care of his family never took second place. He always put his family above himself. Sid was a talented musician playing the piano, guitar, and banjo. It is in music that he found his passion. He was preceded in death by his father, S. Leroy Proctor Jr., mother, Anne Newton, brother Pat Proctor, niece Tonya Proctor-Stephens, and one grandchild. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 1 to 2p.m., before the service at Hudson Funeral Home. Flowers are acceptable. Immediately following the burial, family will receive friends and family at the home of Rick Proctor in Butner.
