Steve Mishue

DURHAM- Mr. Steve Mishue, age 67, went to be with his Lord and Savior on December 16, 2021.

Steve was born February 16, 1954 to the late Lidy and Eloise Elizabeth Shaw Mishue in Lumberton, NC. Mr. Mishue retired after 32 years from the City of Durham as an Electrical Inspector. Steve was a faithful member of the Shady Grove Baptist Church family for over 15 years. He loved the Lord and fervently read his Bible to study the Word. As a fixer, he enjoyed taking on broken projects for his neighbors and church. He never met a stranger and if he saw someone in need, he would try to help them.

Steve loved music, especially playing his guitar and learning new songs. He always looked forward to music nights with friends, where they all played their instruments and sang. Steve was a selfless, hardworking man who loved his family. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend.

Mr. Mishue is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Janet Mishue; son, Michael Mishue (Katya); daughter, Susan Byerly (Steven); step-daughter, Christi Hollifield (Chris); brothers, Roger Mishue (Nancy) and L.J. Mishue (Linda); sisters, Faye Barnes (Pat) and Dale Cribbs (Tony); grandchildren, Nikita, Artem (Joanne), Walker, Eli, Thomas, Corban, Abbey, and Graeme; great-granddaughter, Kinley; as well as other loving family members and friends.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Don Paschall, Brad Kirby, Bunnie Finch, Brad Smith, James Johnson, and Eli Byerly.

A funeral service will be held 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at Shady Grove Baptist Church with a visitation held an hour prior from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Officiating will be Rev. Tim McCreight. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens. Masks will be required to enter the building. Those unable to attend are welcome to sign the registry book and view tomorrow, Tuesday, Decemeber 21, 2021, any time from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
