Stephen “Steve” Lane Arnold

Durham- Steven “Steve” Lane Arnold, 66, of Durham went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 21, 2016. He was a native and lifelong resident of Durham, the son of the late Worth Arnold and Ethel Wethington Arnold. He was preceded in death by his sister, Pat Carpenter. Steve was a member of Andrews Chapel UMC, a skilled woodworker and a Master Gardener with The Durham County Extension Office. He retired from the City of Durham Water Resources Department with 30 years of service. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandpa who was cherished and will be greatly missed. Heaven has gained a special gardener and carpenter; to God be the glory.
Steve is survived by his wife, Margaret Nichols Arnold; son, Jonathan Arnold (Mary); daughter Jennifer Arnold; brother Worth Arnold, Jr. (Wanda); Kenneth Arnold (Patty); sister Dottie Tomar (Larry); grandchildren Vera and Lane Arnold.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 25, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Hudson Funeral Chapel. Rev. Sung Moy and Dr. James D. Phillips will officiate. Burial will be in Brier Creek Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Peter Chambeau, Curtis Woodlief, John Colclough, Rick Wooten, James Rutledge, Barry Smith and Pete Balbero.
The family would like to thank Dr. Richard Bedlack, staff at Duke, family and friends for their help. Duke Home Health, Hock Family Pavilion, Daisy Williams and Beatrice Wiley his caregivers.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 24, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Hudson Funeral Home.
