Susan Parrish Pate

CASWELL-Susan Dare Parrish Pate, 59, and her son, Dylan Scott Pate, 21, died from injuries sustained in a tragic automobile crash that occurred on January 1, 2017 in Person County. Susan died at the scene of the accident and Dylan died on February 4, 2017 at the Duke Hospice Hock Family Pavilion from severe head trauma resulting from the accident. They are survived by Susan’s husband and Dylan’s father, Allan Scott Pate. Also, surviving are Susan’s daughters and Dylan’s sisters, Sarah Tuck, Christina Womack and her husband, Craig Womack, Lauren Pate, and Alyssa Pate. Grandchildren of Susan and nieces of Dylan include Haley Jessup, Rhylee Riddle and Bella Alonso. Dylan is also survived by his grandmother, Lorraine Pate-Smith and two dear friends and mentors, Lisa Herndon and Kay O’Briant. Susan was predeceased by her parents, Leyburn and Virginia Parrish and her brother, Gary Parrish. Dylan was predeceased by his grandfather Dock Pate and his step grandfather J. T. Smith, as well as his grandparents Leyburn and Virginia Parrish.
Susan was employed by Ameristaff and worked at Dialight in Roxboro. She was hard working, caring, and loved her family. Dylan was a kind and gentle young man. He enjoyed being in the outdoors and worked hard in the landscape business. He had a great love of animals especially for his dog, Jake.
There will be a visitation on Tuesday February 7, 2017 at Hudson Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday February 8, 2017 at Hudson Funeral Chapel, officiating will be Reverend Ray Smith. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens.
