Susan Gale Wachter

Susan "Sue" Gale Wachter aged 75, of Durham, NC, passed away on June 16, 2024. She was born on July 30, 1948, in Portsmouth, VA, to the late LCDR Alan and Catherine Johnsen. 

Susan spent her early years on a farm in Eastern Washington before settling in Maple Valley, WA, with her beloved late husband Harold Wachter. Susan dedicated her entire career to the Boeing company. 

Susan was a devoted mother to her son Christopher (Ambre) Wachter, a loving grandmother to Jaxon and Lincoln Wachter, and a cherished friend to many. She is survived by her brothers John (Emily) Hughes and Alan Johnsen, as well as her stepsons Bryon (Melissa), Barry (Teresa), and Bradley (Careene) Wachter, and step granddaughters Jocelyn and Antonia Wachter. 

In her leisure time, Susan enjoyed bowling, pickleball, and softball. She had a passion for traveling, exploring destinations such as Iceland, Italy, Cuba, Africa, the United Kingdom, and various locations across the US, including but not limited to the Grand Canyon, Gettysburg and multiple trips to Las Vegas.

Susan was a private and selfless individual, always putting her family first. She will be remembered for her strength, kindness, and unwavering care for those around her. Her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
