Ted William Fox, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and Vietnam War veteran, passed away peacefully on December 25, 2024, at the age of 73. Born on September 25, 1951, in Roxboro, North Carolina, Ted lived a life defined by service, love and strength, leaving a lasting legacy for his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
The devoted son of the late Foy Roberson Fox and Billie Frances Fox, Ted was predeceased by his brothers Ronnie Fox and Rocky Fox. He is survived by his brother Tim Fox and sisters Teresa Herndon and Tammy Fox, who shared lifelong bonds of love and support.
He was the proud and loving father of Brandi Fox, Michelle Lee and Nikki Platania, and a cherished grandfather to Karleigh Alderman, Robbie Fox, Dalton Lehotta, Frankie Pierce, Amber Alderman, Jameson Platania and Brynn Platania. Ted was also a great-grandfather to Daniel L. Pierce who brought an additional layer of joy and pride to his life. His family was his anchor, and he found endless happiness in moments spent with them, whether celebrating milestones, telling stories, or simply being present.
Ted served his country with honor in Vietnam, where he sustained injuries that led to his early retirement. Despite these challenges, he faced life with remarkable resilience and courage. His unwavering dedication to his fellow veterans and his community served as a testament to his enduring strength and selflessness. He was a lifelong advocate for supporting those who served, frequently contributing to causes that helped improve their lives.
Ted’s passions and personality shone through in everything he did. He loved his dogs, Whiskey and Max, who were his loyal companions through life’s ups and downs. He found joy in Western movies, often sharing his love for classic tales of courage and justice with friends and family. Motorcycles were another source of freedom and adventure for Ted, embodying his independent spirit.
He also had a fondness for exploring holistic remedies, which reflected his appreciation for natural approaches to wellness. Ted found relaxation and joy in embracing the simple pleasures of life—whether it was a quiet moment outdoors, watching a favorite film, or sharing laughs and stories with his loved ones. These small, meaningful moments defined the way Ted chose to live his life—with gratitude and authenticity.
Ted will be remembered for his quiet strength, his kind heart and his unique zest for life. He was a source of wisdom, humor and steadfast love for those he held dear, leaving behind a legacy of resilience, compassion and authenticity. Those who knew him will forever cherish his ability to bring light to a room and his unwavering devotion to family, friends and country.
A memorial service to honor Ted’s life will be held at Hudson Funeral Home on January 4th, 2025. Visitors are welcome from 2:00 to 3:00 PM, followed by a service from 3:00 to 4:00 PM.
