Tena Olivia Ladd Pipkin

DURHAM- Tena Olivia Ladd Pipkin, 67, of Durham died on Sunday, August 10, 2014. She was a native and lifelong resident of Durham, and graduated from Southern High School and Croft Business College. Since May 1979 Assistant  to the Executive Vice President of Environmental Quality Management, Inc. Environmental Protection Agency for 10 years prior to EQ, owned and operated Beary Special Occasions since 1971.  She was a Charter Member of Bethesda United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her brother Robert “Bob” E. Ladd III.

She is survived by her parents, R.H. and Rhudell Ballard, Jr., two brothers, Barney Wayne Ladd of Ahoskie; Ricky Vann Ladd of Emerald Isle; nieces, Angela Ladd Smith, Kristie Ladd White and Jennifer Ladd McBride, three great nieces, one great nephew, two great-great nieces, and a dear friend David Dunbar.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Hudson Funeral Chapel. Rev. Will Jackson and Rev. Harold Salmon will officiate. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be David R. Dunbar, James Marvin Utley III, Jimmy Utley, Eugene Riley III, Perry Roberts, Brent Norton and Jerry Hackney. Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Black, Archie L. Smith III, Ricky Ladd and Barney Ladd.

The family will receive friends on Monday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home and other times at the home, 709 Latta Circle.
