Thelma Lee Gibbs Taylor

TAYLORDURHAM Mrs. Thelma Gibbs Taylor, 77, of Durham, went to be with her Lord surrounded by three of her children and granddaughter, on Monday, November 29, 2010. Mrs. Taylor was born in Pamlico County to the late Carl James and Lillie Mae Little Gibbs. She was raised along with her brothers and sisters at the Kennedy Children’s Home in LaGrange, N.C. She retired from Northern Telecom and Amphenol Corp. She was a member of Bible Baptist Church in Creedmoor. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mark W. Taylor and two brothers, Cecil and Carl Gibbs. She is survived by her sons, Ronald Earl Taylor and wife, Joyce of Hertford, N.C. and Paul Taylor and wife, Linda of Durham; daughters, Theresa Dianne Aiken and husband, Jerry of Bahama and Patricia Mae Taylor of Durham; one sister, Irma Lucille Spellman and husband, Albert of Raleigh; 10 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.Funeral service will be held on Thursday at 2 p.m. at Bible Baptist Church. Rev. Greg Allison and Rev. Jimmy Hall will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Grove Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Ray Carpenter, Cecil Poythress, Bryant Inscoe, Tony Gaskins, Norman Ferrell and Jimmy Curry. Honorary pallbearers will be Jacob Bost and Cade Taylor.The family will receive friends on Thursday from 1 to 2 p. m. , prior to the service at the church.
