Thelma Whitt White

DURHAM Mrs. Thelma Whitt White, 83, of Durham, died on Tuesday, July 3, 2012. She was born in Tazewell, VA to the late Elias and Rebecca Whitt. She retired from Belk as a Sales Associate in the Boy’s Department. She was a member of Glenn School Road Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry William White Jr.She is survived by her son, Larry Glenn White of Monroe; two daughters, Cathy W. Petty of Creedmoor and Sharron W. Oakley of Durham; four sisters, Frances W. Rhew of Durham, Una W. Bullock of Durham, Shirley W. Watson of Knightdale and Ruth Ann W. Utley of Durham; five grandchildren, Bruce Warren, Jr., Jeff G. White, Jason Petty, Bobby D. Watson, Jr. and Laurie W. Purcell and 7 great-grandchildren.Graveside services will be held on Friday at 11 am at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens. Pastor Charles Wilson will officiate. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home. The family would like to give a special thank you to Duke Hospice and her caretaker, Dorothy Riley and special friend, Margaret Boothe.
