DURHAM Mr. Thomas Alvin Williamson, 85, left his earthly home on Thursday, March 14, 2013, to rejoice with the Angels and to see his eternal Savior Jesus Christ.The son of the late George Thomas Williamson and Carrie Jones Williamson was born June 25, 1927 in Vance County and spent most of his adult years in Durham. He served in WWII with the Navy Seals on the USS Kennebago. He retired from Liggett & Myers Tobacco Company after 36 years. He loved Bible Baptist Church as well as the members he had known for so long. He loved to hunt, make knives for himself and for friends. Many a friend and nephew enjoyed getting one of his knives. He was preceded in death by his wife, Callie. He is survived by his daughter, Pam and brother-in-law, Bobby Honeycutt (Nancy); a host of nieces, nephews and special cousins and his beagle, Thelma Lou.Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Bible Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Greg Allison and Rev. Jimmy Hall. Burial will be in Mt Hermon Baptist Church in Orange County. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 12 to 1 p.m., before the service at the church. Flowers are acceptable. Take time to sit and listen to our seniors. These words of wisdom are to be cherished.
