Thomas Edward Hester

DURHAM- Mr. Thomas Edward Hester, age 94, passed away on December 5, 2021.

Mr. Hester was born June 27, 1927 to the late Edward Thomas and Cora Mae Durham Hester. Thomas proudly served his country in the United States Army as a Tank Driver during World War II. He was a member of Gorman Baptist Church. Thomas enjoyed spending time with his family and will be deeply missed.

In addition to his parents, Thomas is preceded in death by his wife, Marie Hester; and sister, Laura Steele.

Thomas is survived by his sons, Linwood Hester (Donna) of Durham, NC, Douglas Hester of Durham, NC, and Tom Hester, Jr. (Laurel) of Calabash, NC; daughter, Teddie Jo Gentry (Rick) of Raleigh, NC; grandchildren, Jeanelle Johnson, Travis Hester, Kendra Hester, Michelle Worden (Kurt), Holli Savage (Alfred), and Thomas Hester, III; great-grandchildren, Brianna Russell, Ryan Russell, Maryellen Hester-Aguilar, Kayla Worden, Kenna Worden, Gabe Little, Bella Savage, and Olivia Savage.

A visitation will be held from 12:30 – 1:30 p.m., Friday, December 10, 2021 at Hudson Funeral Home followed by a graveside service held at 2:00 p.m. at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens. Officiating will be Pastor Craig Phelps.
