HILLSBOROUGH Mr. Thomas Leroy Kelly, 92, of Hillsborough, died on Saturday, May 5, 2012. Tom was born in Lillington to the late Thomas L. Kelly and Ila Stephens Kelly, but spent most of his adult life in Durham. He was a WWII veteran of the U. S. Air Force. He attended Campbell College and worked for Globe Communications as an accountant, until his retirement in 1982. Tom attended Northgate Presbyterian Church in Durham where he served as church treasurer for 54 years. He was active in the Exchange Club, Meal-on-Wheels, Edison-Johnson Senior Center and The Florence Gray Soltys Adult Day Health Program in Hillsborough. He was a charter member of Willowhaven Country Club and enjoyed golf, tennis and many friends. He was an avid Duke fan and supported all “Duke” sports.Tom was preceded death by his wife, Lottie Nadine Kelly and sister, Kathleen Radcliffe.He is survived by his son, Larry T. Kelly and wife, Cheryl; three grandchildren, Travis Kelly, John H. Bost III and April Bost Nipper; seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at 2 p.m. at Woodlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 8, 2012 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home and other times at the home of Larry Kelly, 3711 New Sharon Church Road in Hillsborough. Special thanks to the Soltys Adult Day Program staff and to April Nipper and Gary Baker for their excellent loving care.
