PARNELLROXBORO Mr. Thomas Ray (Tinker) Parnell, Sr., 72 died on Friday, November 12, 2010. He was born in Smithfield, NC to the late John Millard Parnell and Dorothy Whitman Parnell. He retired after 30 years from the City of Durham as Survey Party Chief in the Engineering Department. He was a true Blue Devil fan. He was preceded in death by a brother, James Parnell.He is survived by his wife Shirley Parnell; Son Thomas Ray (Pete) Parnell Jr. and wife Shelia of Timberlake; Daughter Cheryl Mayton and husband Danny of Timberlake; Brothers John Alvin Parnell & wife Rosa of Durham; Sister, Teresa Browning and husband Danny Browning of Durham and 6 grandchildren. Funeral services will held on Sunday at 3:30 pm at Liberty Baptist Church, officiated by Dr. Jack Cox. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2:30 to 3:30 pm before the service at Liberty Baptist Church, 3864 Guess Rd. and other times at the home.
