Thomas "Tommy" Alfred Fletcher

Mr. Thomas “Tommy” Alfred Fletcher, 80, passed away January 18, 2023.

Tommy was born September 20, 1942, in Durham, NC to the late Lewis Boone and Ada Moore Fletcher.

Mr. Fletcher is survived by his wife, Pat McLean-Fletcher; daughters, Robin Alford (Johnny) and Wendy Carden; sons, Todd Fletcher and Page Fletcher (Shelly); stepson, Mark James (Julie); grandchildren, Tiffany Morris, Justin Fletcher (Linda), Tyler Carden, Jake Carden, Landon Fletcher, Bailey Brennan (Jamie), Ashley James, and Heather James; great-grandchildren, Logan Roberts, Madison Morath, Colton Watson, Gio Costante, and Madelyn Carden.

Tommy was born and raised in Durham. He worked as a Financial Analyst with IBM for 25 years and with the Durham Clerk of Courts for 5 years. Tommy was quite the entrepreneur, from selling beachballs and sun caps on the boardwalk at Carolina Beach to t-shirts at Benson Mule Days and the NC State Fair.

He loved his family, loved his church, and most important, he loved the Lord. Tommy was a member of Trinity Baptist Church, serving as Deacon for many years and he was a founding member of Leesville Road Baptist Church. He became a member of Fellowship Baptist Church, where he served and actively attended for the past 25 years.

Tommy was a generous man, always putting others first. Anyone blessed to have known Tommy, knew love, laughter, and loyalty. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Tyler Carden, Jake Carden, Landon Fletcher, Logan Roberts, Jason Shepherd, Kenny Finley, Johnny Pickard, and Danny Jenkins. Honorary Pallbearers will be Billy Boswell, Colton Watson, and the members of Cornerstone Sunday School Class.

A visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 21, 2023, at Fellowship Baptist Church with a funeral service following at 1:00 p.m. Officiating will be Dr. Rick Finley. Burial will be held at Maplewood Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at 430 Goodwin Road, Durham, NC 27712 beginning Friday, January 20, at 10:00 a.m. through Sunday, January 22.
