Thomas Wade Baker

DURHAM Mr. Thomas “Wade” Baker, 83, of Durham, died on Monday, March 5, 2012.Mr. Baker was born in Harnett County to the late Vernon and Alice Asheworth Baker. He retired after 40 years from the American Tobacco Company. He was a member of the West Durham Pentecostal Church. Mr. Baker was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Olie Goins Baker; two sons, Charles Lee Baker and Phillip Stanley Baker and two grandchildren, Charles Baker Jr. and Scott Baker.He is survived by his son, Wayne Baker and wife, Diane; one sister, Elizabeth Cooke and 4 grandsons, Wayne Baker Jr. (Laura), Michael Baker, Travis Baker (Christine) and Bradley Baker (Samantha); 2 granddaughters, Angie Spruill (Eddie) and Amanda Delhart (Joey); 18 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. at Hudson Funeral Chapel, officiated by Pastor James Williams. Burial will be in Oak Grove Memorial Gardens.The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home and other times at the home of his son, 8306 Maggie Lane in Rougemont. Flowers are acceptable.
