Valinda Marie Long

DURHAM- Ms. Valinda Marie Long, 66, passed away Saturday, April 29, 2017 surrounded by her loving family.
Ms. Long was born August 12, 1950 in Frankfurt, Germany. Ms. Long became an Accountant and retired from the UNC Marine Science Department. She enjoyed helping students achieve their goals and getting them the grants needed to succeed. Her family was her world. Ms. Long will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother who will be deeply missed by her family and will be remembered as Mama Long by the many graduate students she helped over the years.
Ms. Long is preceded in death by her parents, Adolphus and Dora Long; sisters, Phyllis Mangum and Gloria Rigsbee.
Ms. Long is survived by her son, Paul Truell (Pam); sister, Debbie Long; grandson, Jordan Truell.
