Van Webster Peaden, 72, of Durham, North Carolina passed away on Saturday, February 24, 2024. He was born in Pitt County, NC on September 13, 1951 to the late William and Josephine Peaden.
In addition to his parents Mr. Peaden is preceded in death by his brothers, Earl Walston, Bobbie Walston, Leroy Walston, Buddy Whitley and Tommy Whitley; sisters, Nann Walston, Edna Earl Greene and Jean Eatmon
Mr. Peaden is survived by the love of his life Marguerite “Rita” Peaden whom he married on August 20, 1971. Together they had one son, Daniel Peaden, who will dearly miss his father. Van is also survived by his sisters, Katie Peaden Williams (Donald) and Pattie Walston and numerous loving nieces, nephews and friends.
Van was an excellent carpenter, and it was said he was one the best finishing carpenters around. He was an avid Duke Football and Basketball fan who enjoyed classic rock from the 70’s. Mr. Peaden also loved camping, especially at Kerr Lake. Van was a charter member of the Buddha Belly Club a club proud of their long and hard-earned bellies. For over 36 years the club would take an annual guy trip to the mountains. This was the only time he would ever be away from Rita.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held from 2:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. on Sunday, March 17, 2024 at Redwood Ruritan Club, 4803 Cheek Rd., Durham, NC 27704.
