Virginia Dare Blake

Mrs. Virginia Dare P. Blake, age 83, passed away on December 29, 2021.

Virginia was born April 8, 1938 in Durham, NC, to the late Nulen Carr and Fannie Minerva Clayton Porterfield. Mrs. Blake was a faithful member of Ebenezer Baptist Church for over 40 years. In her younger years, she was a great cook. Virginia loved going to Wal-Mart. She never met a stranger and never had a bad thing to say about anyone. She could always find a way to make you laugh. Virginia loved her grandchildren dearly and she took great care of her home and her family. Virginia will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great grandmother.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Blake was preceded in death by her four brothers and three sisters.

Mrs. Blake is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, James Crow Blake; son, Jonah Wayne Blake (Diane); daughter, Linda Gale Piper (Russell Edward); sister, Geraldine Blake; grandchildren, Heather Ryder, Jarrett Piper, Kaylynne Piper, Ernest Piper, Alexiz Piper, and Jamie Howell (Melissa); great grandchildren, Jaxson Ryder, Stella Godwin, Jonathon Howell, Jamison Howell, Raquel and Eila Piper, and Winston Piper; as well as numerous other loving family members and friends.
