Virginia “Tootie” Carden

DURHAM- Virginia “Tootie” Magalene Carden, 65, passed away Sunday, May 19, 2019.
Mrs. Carden was born February 24, 1954 to Edgar and Rachel Carden in Durham, NC. Virginia was an excellent cook and loved to cook for her family. She will be remembered as a loving mother, sibling, and grandmother.
Tootie loved to try out new recipes but was known to break a dish or drop something along the way. She loved her family with all of her heart. Her grandkids were her world and she was so proud of them. Tootie’s smile would light up any room and her eyes were as bright and beautiful as any star in the sky. She loved to dance and it didn’t matter what was playing… she danced. Tootie loved beach music and she could shag like no other. Tootie was loved by so many and will be missed greatly.

Mrs. Carden is preceded in death by her parents, Edgar and Rachel Carden; brother, Dexter Carden; sister, Susie Carden. She is survived by her son, Johnny Sigmon, Jr. (Nancy) of Durham; daughter, Shelly Sigmon Fletcher (Page) of Wake Forest, NC; brothers, Tommy Carden (Dot) of Myrtle Beach, SC, Larry Carden (Vikke) of Durham, NC, Bobby Carden of Durham, NC; sister, Jo Ann Carden of Durham, NC; grandchildren, Bailey King, Morgan Sigmon, Landon Fletcher, Brooke Sigmon; and several nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, May 28, 2019 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home.
