DURHAM Mrs. Virginia Lillian Priddy Mickle, 94, of Durham, passed away on Tuesday, January 3, 2017.
Mrs. Mickle was born in Stokes County, N.C., the daughter of the late Perry T. Priddy and Mary Elizabeth Wall Priddy. Her husband, Rev. H.L. Mickle preceded her in death. She was faithful to her husband of 58 years. As a pastor’s wife she served alongside him for 51 years in ministry, and was affectionately known as “Nannie” too many friends. She was a member of Layman’s Chapel Baptist Church. She loved to travel especially on mission trips to Germany. She loved raising her children and was a great cook who would take meals to families. She loved to read her Bible and spend time in prayer. She was preceded in death by her four brothers, Carl Priddy, Derwood Duggins, Kenneth Duggins and J.C. Duggins; three sisters, Beulah “Pinky” King, Margie Wall and Juanita Faust.
She is survived by her three sons, Harold Lee Mickle Jr. of Stem; Billy Grey Mickle and wife, Donna of Creedmoor and Joel Samuel Mickle and wife, Kimberley of Timberlake; sister, Odessa Hamm and husband, Ted of King, NC; eleven grandchildren, Scott Mickle, Randy Mickle, Tammy Wilmoth, Lisa Bacchi, Melonie Ladd, Kevin Mickle, Seth Mickle, Zane Mickle, Mandi Davis, Joshua Mickle, and Hannah Mickle; 20 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 11, 2017 at 12 Noon at Bible Baptist Church. Rev. Greg Allison and Rev. Ernie Mills will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Grove Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be her great-grandsons.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 from 11 a.m. to 12 Noon at the church
and other times at the home of her son, Billy Mickle. Flowers are acceptable or donations may be made to the Durham Rescue Mission at durhamrescuemission.org. Online condolences can be made at www.hudsonfuneralhome.com.
