Vivian Poythress Longmire

HENDERSON- Mrs. Vivian Poythress Longmire, 90, passed away February 6 2017, surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. Longmire was born and raised in Henderson, NC. She was educated through the Henderson city schools. Mrs. Longmire then worked with the F.B.I. in Washington, D.C. for several years as a secretary and with Carolina Bagging Company. Mrs. Longmire was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church in Henderson. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and spending time with her family. She was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Mrs. Longmire is preceded in death by her husband Nelson F. Longmire of 51 years; parents, William and Lessie Poythress; brothers, Bruce Poythress, John Poythress, Buck Poythress, and George Poythress; sister, Virginia Boyd.
Mrs. Longmire is survived by her son Keith Longmire (Catherine); granddaughters, Tracy Hummel (David), Kelly Longmire, Jennifer Potts (Mike), Heather Noblitt (Tyler); great-grandchildren, Bradley Hummel, Nicholas Hummel, Addison Potts, and Reagan Potts. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday February 11, 2017 at First United Methodist Church in Henderson, NC. Officiating will be Pastor Terry Huffins and Rev. Ed Denton. Burial will follow at Sunset Gardens in Henderson, NC. A visitation will be held an hour prior from 12-1 p.m.
