MORRISVILLE Mr. Wade Ariel Davis, 76 of 5837 Family Farm Road, died on Wednesday, June 25, 2014.
Mr. Davis was a native and lifelong resident of Morrisville, the son of the late Sidney Wendell Davis and Dora Butts Davis. He retired as a field service technician with Novitex. He was a founding member of Calvary and Christian Community Baptist Church and a member of Sorrell’s Grove Baptist Church. He served as Mayor and City Councilman in Morrisville for 18 years. He established the first City Hall and set up the first Police Department in Morrisville. Also he established the development of the city water and sewer systems for future development of Morrisville. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Bobby Davis and Sidney Wendell “S.W” Davis Jr.
He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Jean Davis; son, Barry Davis and wife, Laura of Newport, Tenn.; grandchild, Tieraney Davis Mitchell of Asheville and step-granddaughter, Arrianna; brother, Willie Lee Davis and wife, Ann of Morrisville; three sisters, Doris Giles of Dripping Springs, Tex., Wanda Cooley and Swannie Lee Dawkins, both of Milton Fla.; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Sorrell’s Grove Baptist Church. Rev. Glenn Davis will officiate. Burial will be in the Butts Family Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Kenneth Davis, Doug Davis, Jeremiah Jones, Terry Nichols, Mark Jones and Stacy Davis. Honorary Pallbearers will be Charles Davis and Bill Cooley
The family will receive friends on Saturday from 1 to 2 p.m., before the service at the church and other times at the home, 5837 Family Farm Road.
