William (Bill) Marks

ORANGE- William “Bill Edward Marks, 85, of Chapel Hill died on Saturday, January 12, 2013. He was the son of the late Clemmons Marks and Belle Sherron Marks. He served in the U.S. Army, Merchant Marine, and Air Force. Mr. Marks retired from Liggett- Myers as a fixer. He loved driving his tractor and gator, had a deep love of the land and was of the Baptist Faith. He was preceded in death by three brothers, John Marks, Bob Marks and Clemmons Marks, Jr. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth Miller Marks of the home; two sons, George Edward Marks and Pamela Sharpe Marks of Atlanta, GA; and Carl Wayne Marks of Cedar Grove; one brother, Gordon Marks of Atlantic Beach, NC; four grandchildren, Cynthia and Joseph Eric Macalino of Raleigh; George Edward Marks Jr. of Marietta, GA; Adam Monroe Marks of Kennesaw, GA; Catherine and Chris Johnson of Mebane, NC; three great-grandchildren, Ericka Macalino, Jeremiah Macalino and Gael Macalino. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at North Chapel Hill Baptist Church. Rev Shelbie Summerlin will officiate. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Chapel Hill. Pallbearers will be Eric Macalino, Dennis Pechinski, George Edward Marks, Jr., Jeremiah Macalino, Adam Monroe Marks and Chris Johnson. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home.
