William James Allen

DURHAM Mr. William “James” Allen, 85, of Durham, passed away on Monday, June 05, 2017.Mr. Allen was born in Rocky Mount, the son of the late William James Allen, Sr. and Juanita Bragg Allen. He served in the U. S. Air Force. He owned Allen Heating and Air Conditioning Company and later worked for Real Estate Associates. He was a member of Greystone Church. He was an avid golfer and loved his family and especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ann P. Allen; two sons, Richard James Allen and wife, Madeline of Morrisville and Robert Wayne Allen of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; daughter, Gloria Allen Minor and husband, Tim of Durham; brother, Oscar Lee Allen and wife, Shirley; three grandchildren, Jeremy Wayne Minor (Tonya), Grant Taylor Allen and Brittney Minor Overcash (Brandon); great-grandchildren, Austen Minor, Luke Minor, Elle Minor, Grace Minor, Kinsley Overcash and Khloe Overcash.Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Chapel. Rev. Jeremy Minor (Grandson) and Dr. Clay Waters will officiate. Burial will be in the Bethesda Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Paul Rigsbee, Joe Jernigan, Tom Rouse, Parker Lowe, Lou Utley, Tony Freeman and Skip Marsh.The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home and other times at the home.
