William Joseph James, Sr.

Durham- William Joseph James, Sr., 87, passed away peacefully, October 28, 2023, at his home.

Mr. James Sr. was born June 11, 1936 to the late Ira Jordan James and Ruth Tunstall James in Durham, NC.

William James, Sr. was an avid Duke fan and volunteered for the Iron Dukes for many years. He held many achievements in his life, including numerous awards from Boy Scouts of America and the Printing Industry.

For over 30 years, he was a greeter, standing at the front doors of Living Waters Church.

In addition to his parents, Mr. William James, Sr. was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia F. James; brother, Tommy James; sister, Carol J. Rigsbee.

Mr. James, Sr. is survived by his son, William “Billy” James (Vicky Lee); brother, Donnie James (Lynda); grandchildren, Kristopher James (Ashley), Kristen Massey; great-grandchildren, Abigail James, Kadence James, Nataleigh Cameron, and many loving family members and friends.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 2, 2023 at 12:00 P.M. with a visitation prior at 11:00 A.M. at Living Waters Christian Center.

Pallbearers will be Mark Chamberlain, John Chamberlain, Terry Riggsbee, Robbie Riggsbee, Justin Wilkins, and Brian Wilkins.

Flowers are acceptable, or memorial contributions can be made to Living Waters Christian Center Community.
