William “Lacy” Griffin

DURHAM Mr. William Lacy Griffin, 107, of Durham, died on Thursday, February 18, 2016.
Mr. Griffin was born on December 24, 1908, the son of the late John Thomas Griffin and Mary Lula Culbreth Griffin. He retired after 32 years from Wrights Machinery as Production Foreman and was a member of the Jr. Order of the Union of United Mechanics. He was a lifelong farmer and was a professional Beekeeper. He was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Hilma Griffin; daughter, Betty Ruth Griffin; three brothers, Oscar, Percy and Ormond and a sister, Annie Griffin White.
He is survived by his granddaughter, Sonya Culley; four great-grandchildren, Kalee, Lilli, Lexi Stepto and Nolan Cooley; numerous great-nephews and nieces and his caregiver, Ike W. Clark.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, February 21, 2016 at 2 p.m. St. Paul United Methodist Church. Rev. Mark D. Stephens and Rev. Michelle Osborne will officiate.
The family will receive friends on Sunday for 1 to 2 p.m., prior to the service at the church.
Burial will be on Sunday at 4 p.m. in the Chatham Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be David Clouse, Ike W. Clark, Frank Clark, Joe Griffin, Horace Lane and Ken Eddins. Honorary pallbearers will be Rudy Dunbar and Ron Clouse. Flowers are acceptable or donations may be made to the St. Paul UM Church, 2700 N.
