William Larry Herndon

DURHAM- Mr. William Larry Herndon, 89, passed away Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at his home.

Mr. Herndon was born August 6, 1932 to the late William and Sarah Herndon in Durham, NC. He retired from American Tobacco Company. Mr. Herndon was an avid fan of NASCAR, especially Jeff Gordon. He enjoyed eating at Home Plate and Bojangles. Mr. Herndon loved spending time with his great-grandchildren. He proudly served his country in the United States Army.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Tony Way Herndon; brother, Claiborne Herndon; sisters, Delores Moore and Ramona Oliver.

Mr. Herndon is survived by his wife of 67 years, Margie Jackson Herndon; sons, Larry Wayne Herndon (Pam), Tracy Lynn Herndon (Janet) and Timothy Lane Herndon; daughter-in-law, Jo Anne Herndon; sisters, Linda Beck (Bobby), Carolyn Pipkin and Faye Jacobs; brother-in-law, Derwood Oliver; grandchildren, Christopher Herndon (Lori), Kevin Herndon (Kelly), Donovan Herndon, Adam Herndon (Lauren), Dylan Herndon, Meredith Koraly (Rob) and Kolby Herndon (Taylor); great-grandchildren, 15.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Lane Herndon, Landon Herndon, Donovan Herndon, Adam Herndon, Josh Herndon, and Tony Hurley, Jr.

A visitation will be held an hour prior from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. David Edwards. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens with Military Honors.
