William Raymond Shepherd

DURHAM- William “Raymond” Shepherd, 81, of Durham died on Wednesday, October 23, 2013. He was a native and lifelong resident of Durham, the son of the late Pleas Shepherd and Bessie Green Shepherd.  He served in the U.S. Army. He attended Grove Park Chapel. Mr. Shepherd helped build Grove Park Chapel, Northgate Chapel, Pittsboro Christian Home and Mountain Top Youth Camp.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Doris Elizabeth May Shepherd, two daughters, Linda Eubanks (Derek) of Durham;  Rhonda Slaughter (Greg)  of Durham, four grandchildren, Brian Eubanks, Ashleigh Slaughter, Emily Eubanks and Jason Slaughter,  many nieces and nephews,  and a special thanks to his caregiver Catherine Jeffries.

Graveside services will be held on Friday at 1:00 p.m. at Brier Creek Memorial Gardens.  Pastor Dale Brooks will officiate.
