Winston Hyriam ““Winkie”” Chappell

DURHAM- Mr. Winston Hyriam “Winkie” Chappell, 77, passed away Saturday, July 22, 2017 peacefully at home.Mr. Chappell was born July 4, 1940 in Durham, NC to the late Jamie and Vila Chappell. Mr. Chappell co-owned and operated a machine shop for many years. He served as a Deacon and did Ministry work at the Durham Ridge Nursing Home and a lifetime member of Durham Memorial Baptist Church. Mr. Chappell proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather.Mr. Chappell is preceded in death by his parents, Jamie and Vila Chappell; 2 brothers, and 1 sister.Mr. Chappell is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Elizabeth Chappell; son, Mark Chappell (Christy); daughter, Connie Bradshaw; sister, Carol Doss (Monroe); grandsons, Josh and Nick Chappell, and several other loving family members. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at Durham Memorial Baptist Church. Officiating will be Rev. Ed Denton and Dr. Gerald Goodwin. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens.
