Yvonne Currie Fisher

Mrs. Yvonne Currie Fisher, 86, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2023, surrounded by her family.

Yvonne was born January 1, 1937, in Durham, NC to the late John B. Currie and Mary Lou Hope Currie. Yvonne was a loving wife of 58 years to the late Ronnie L. Fisher. The two loved traveling, antiques, and spending time with their family.

Yvonne’s personality was soft spoke, loving and welcoming to all. She was a Teacher’s Assistant for the state for 20 plus years. She loved children and they loved Mrs. Fisher’s sweetness and gentle spirit. Many of the students she taught today will make comments on how they loved Mrs. Fisher, she had a lasting impression on many.

Yvonne was a member of Gorman Baptist Church for 50 plus years. Since her health decline and she moved in with family, she began attending Pleasant Grove Baptist with her family.

Yvonne was a loving mother, and Meme to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was always available after retiring to help with the grandkids, including car pick up and dropping off whatever was needed to help her family. If any of them were participating in an event she would dedicate her time to always be there. In her later years, she enjoyed listening to music and going to hear live music. She attended many Bluegrass concerts with her family.

Mrs. Fisher is survived by her daughters, Cindy F. Glenn and husband, Johnny and Rhonda F. Gann and husband, David; grandchildren, Jennifer G. Holder, Kyle Glenn and wife, Brooke, Chris Gann and wife, Taylor, and Brittney Thaxton and husband, Ben; great-grandchildren, Carter Glenn, Pait Glenn, Ollie Glenn, Will Holder Jr., Grant Thaxton, Eli Thaxton, Makenna Gann.

Serving as pallbearers will be David Gann, Johnny Glenn, Kyle Glenn, Chris Gann, Ben Thaxton, and Carter Glenn.

A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 17, 2023, at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens. Officiating will be Rev. David Herman. The family will greet friends prior to the service beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the graveside.
