Eunice O’Briant Pennell

DURHAM- Eunice Pennell, our beautiful and sweet matriarch, passed on to be with her Lord on January 8, 2021. She was born August 15, 1930 to the late Elsie and Alton O’Briant. She retired from Durham Public Schools and is a member of Plainview Baptist Church. In 1979, she was preceded in death by her husband, Waverly Pennell.

She is survived by one sister, Carah Curry; her children, Philip Pennell (Kathy), Vicki Pennell Jones, Raymond Pennell, David Pennell (Claudia) and Tammie Millard (Will); grandchildren, Kimberly Galen (Nelson), Sherri Kulink (Chris), Crystal Simmons (Nate), Jennifer O’Keefe (Jim), Kevin Jones (Lyndsey), Nathan Pennell (Whitney), and Casey Millard; and great-grandchildren, Nolan Paris, Madeline Paris, Genevieve Kulink, Wyatt Simmons, Daisy Simmons, Tiffany Smith, Easton Pennell, and Cameron Pennell.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Plainview Baptist Church at 5200 Cheek Road in Durham, NC. Doug Nalley will officiate. Pallbearers will be Nathan Pennell, Kevin Jones, Tommy Frazier, Nathaniel Simmons, Randy Clements, and Mickey Oliver. She will be laid to rest at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens on Cheek Road.

Mrs. Pennell was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who truly believed in families sticking together. She was here with us for over 90 years! We will miss her very much but we rejoice for her as she begins a new life with her Lord and Savior.

Hudson Funeral Home will be observing social distancing for the funeral service, and asks everyone in attendance to wear a mask when entering the building.
