Alice Marie Mansfield

DURHAM Mrs. Alice Jacobs Mansfield, 69, of Durham went to be with her Lord on Sunday, September 18, 2011. She lived most of her life in Durham. She worked as a hairdresser and most recently served in the administrative capacity in the family business at Mansfield’s Auto. She genuinely loved people and was always one of the first to help others in need. She loved cooking and having gatherings with the family and friends. Her family was her passion and she had a unique way of bringing laughter into almost any situation. She was preceded in death by her mother, Naomi Frye Byrd, her father, William Eugene Jacobs and a brother, Eugene “Buck” Jacobs.She is survived by her husband, James (Mike) Mansfield, daughter, Lisa Rogers; son Michael Schwartz; three brothers, Claborne Jacobs (Faye) of Southport, Denny Stanley (Joy) of Durham and Robert Byrd of Bellville; one sister, Carol Rogers of Durham; sister-in-law, Linda Jacobs of Georgia; grandchildren, Alexander Rogers of Durham and Sarah Ashworth of Creedmoor; adopted granddaughter, Jessica Smith; 8 nieces and nephews and many special friends.Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Hudson Funeral Chapel. Interment will be in Oak Grove Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home and other times at the home.
