Amy Elizabeth Morgan, 33, of Durham, NC, passed away Sunday, October 29, 2017, surrounded by her family at Duke University Medical Center. Amy was born March 16, 1984 in Charlotte, NC to David and Myra Morgan. Amy graduated in 2006 with a B.A. in Art History and received her Master’s Degree in Information and Library Science in 2008 from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. An avid reader since childhood, Amy devoted her professional life to supporting libraries and encouraging reading. She was a Metadata Librarian at NoveList for 8 years. She was also a juvenile materials specialist. She was a member of The Summit in Durham, NC and a past member of Pleasant Plains Baptist Church in Matthews, NC. An intelligent and curious young woman, Amy loved to learn about a variety of topics: the Bible, Art history, theatre, England and more. Amy enjoyed spending time with her family and loved being an aunt to her nephew. She was loved by many and brought a smile to anyone’s face. She will always be remembered for her sweet gentle soul. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Ray Campbell; paternal grandmother, Theresa Morgan.
She is survived by her parents, David and Myra Morgan; sister, Mallory Morgan and fiancé Daniel; nephew, Dylan Baucom; grandparents, David L. Morgan, Sr. (Carol), Lillian Campbell, and numerous other loving family members and friends.
The family would like to thank the nurses of floor 9100 at Duke University Medical Center for their kind and compassionate care of Amy. They are also grateful for the phone calls, visits, and donations that allowed them to be with Amy for the past two months.
Memorial service will be held Saturday, November 4, 2017 at 1:00 pm at Pleasant Plains Baptist Church in Matthews, NC. Visitation will be held at 12:00 pm.
