HENDERSON- Jessie “J.B.” Bradley Morgan, age 91, passed away peacefully at his home on 260 Waters Edge Loop, Henderson, NC. On Friday, February 2, 2018 at 11:30 a.m. He was surrounded by his family and friends.
Mr. Morgan was born on October 18, 1926 to Doshie and Clovis Morgan in Bailey, North Carolina. He moved to Durham at the age of 16 and shortly thereafter went to work with the American Tobacco Company. He retired after 34 years of service. He was a member of Plainview Baptist Church and Redwood Ruritan Club in Durham. Surf City was his second home for 30 years and he loved the beach, fishing, boating and, most of all, people. He was a caring husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice Joyner Morgan, mother of his children; his second wife, Inez Morgan; James Alvin Morgan, brother and Ora Cooper, sister.
Left to cherish his memory are three children. Helen Viik and husband, Kaido of Creedmoor; Rebecca “Becky” Barnes, widowed, of Durham; and Mark Douglas Morgan of Henderson. He leaves behind his loving and devoted companion, Alma Williams of Durham. He has four grandchildren, Sherri Watson and husband, Blue of Oxford; Wendy Watson and husband, Toney of Durham; Kim Aycock and husband, Stuart of Durham; Kristin Price of Prospect Hill, N.C., and seven great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday February 6th at 11:00 am at Hudson Funeral Home Chapel. Entombment will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum with Rev. Stuart Aycock officiating. The family will receive friends one-hour prior from 10-11 a.m. at Hudson Funeral Home.
Flowers are acceptable along with donations to the Redwood Ruritan Club and Hospice of Durham.
