DURHAM Mrs. Carolyn Little Perry, 84, of Durham, died at her home on Sunday, January 14, 2018.
Mrs. Perry was a native and lifelong resident of Durham, the daughter of the late Sidney Sylvester Little and Nicey Boswell Little. She was a member of Bethesda Baptist Church and was active in many church activities. She taught Sunday School; was a member of Primetimers and served on the Daycare Committee. She retired from James C. Green Insurance Company as an Insurance Adjuster and was a member of the N. C. Insurance Women’s Association. Carolyn loved to cook, some of the best cakes were made by her and sold at auctions for the church. She loved to travel, especially to the beach, her favorite spot. She is preceded in death by her husband, James Wesley Perry; nephew, Randy Olliff, nieces, Jackie Smith, Bonnie Little Evans and daughter, Kristen; sister, Dorothy Little Olliff and great-nephew, Doug Sullivan.
She is survived by her daughter, Erica Perry of Durham; her brother, Bruce Little (Gerri) of Durham; nieces, Karen Little, Kathy Knab, Pamela McCall, Martha Sullivan, Rita Leslie, Brigitte Stocks, Lou Ann Goodfellow and Patty Montgomery; nephews, Dwight Little, Bo Little and Gray Little; great-nieces, Kara Wyckoff and her children, Amanda and Parker, Lynn Edmonds and her children, Josef and Lydia and Meredith Sullivan, Sarah Young and daughter, Kaitlin, Lisa Hatfield and children, Macy and Ellie; great-nephews, Patrick Olliff, John Stocks and children, Jonathan and Silias, Joseph Stocks; great-great-nephews, Alana and Douglas and many more extended relatives throughout the family.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Chapel. Reverend Ernest Ferrell will officiate. Burial will be in Raleigh Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be John Wyckoff, Wayne Edmonds, Dwight Little, Bobby Mote, Percy McNair and Kanie Boykin.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 1 to 2 p.m., before the service at the funeral home and after the service at the home. Flowers are acceptable or donations can be made to a charity of choice.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the compassionate caregivers, Ruth Locklear, Joyce Cummings, Judy Wright, Annette Watson, Janice Harris and Daija Croaker for their personal relationships and bond they provided for the past three years.
