WOMACKDURHAM Mr. Charles Eugene Womack, 88, of 426 Southerland Street, died on Wednesday, September 1, 2010.Mr. Womack was a native of Polk County, the son of Amos Anderson Womack and Lela White Womack. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army and World War II. He retired from Southern Railroad after 30 years as an Engineer. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Clyde, Knox, Amos and Lewis Womack and two sisters, Pearl Johnson and Edna Uhrig.He is survived by his wife, Dorothy G. Womack; daughter, Mary Beth Parker and husband, Jim of Emerald Isle and three grandchildren, Seth Parker, Caleb Parker and Shane Parker.Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 3 p.m. at Angier Avenue Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Clarence Parrish and Rev. Kevin Byers. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park.The family will receive friends on Saturday from 2 to 3 p.m., before the service at Angier Avenue Baptist Church. The family wishes to thank Beth Plonk and Shelina Wilkins with the Duke Hospice for the special care they gave Mr. Womack during his illness.
