DURHAM Mr. Charles Everett “Charlie” Trumbo, 93, of Durham, died on Saturday, November 18, 2017.
Mr. Trumbo was born in Broadway, Va., the son of the late Leonard Homan Trumbo and Minnie Halterman Trumbo. Charlie was a graduate of Broadway High School and Virginia Polytechnic Institute (Virginia Tech). He served in the U. S. Army during World War II. He retired from Uzzle Motor Company and was a certified ASE Master Technician. Mr. Trumbo was a member of the American Legion Post 416 (Lowes Grove). He enjoyed fishing, gardening, bluebirds and in earlier years roller skating. He was preceded in death by his daughter and son-in-law, Linda Lee Trumbo Wilson and Geter Wilson.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Doise Moore Trumbo; daughter, Robin Trumbo Odom and husband Donald of Durham; brothers-in-law, Denny Moore and wife, Shelvy of Blacksburg, Va. and Bobby Moore of Riner, Va.; sister, Eloise Trumbo Ruby of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; two grandchildren, Barry Randall Wheeler of Durham and Walter Gray Wheeler and wife, Shelly of Keller, Tex.; great-grandchildren, Dillon Wheeler Beveridge and Victoria Wheeler Beveridge both of Frisco, Tex.
Graveside services will be held at the Halterman Family Cemetery in Bergton, Va. at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Broadway Volunteer Fire Department, PO Box 271, Broadway, VA, 22815.
