David Wyatt Powell

DURHAM Mr. David Wyatt Powell, 78, of Durham, died at his home on Wednesday, May 30, 2018.
Mr. Powell was a resident of Durham for 64 years, the son of the late Durward Elmo Powell, Sr. and Mary Brent Overton Powell. He was a retired Electrician. Mr. Powell attended the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness. He loved his family, reading his Bible, woodcarving and dancing in his younger years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elaire Schulz Powell; son, Wesley Powell; brother, Durward Powell; sisters, Geraldine P. Walters, Betsy P. Black, Doris P. Clayton, Joanne P. Woods, Evelyn P. Bush and Carolyn P. Bowers.
He is survived by his daughters; Colette Powell Leirer and husband Craig of Rougemont and Dawn Powell Prince and husband, Greg of Raleigh; son, Wyatt Powell and wife, Nicole of Belmont, CA; brother, Clyde Powell and wife, Nancy of Mississippi; grandchildren, Taylor Prince, Camryn Leirer, Alison Leirer and Garrett Prince.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, June 15, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness 812 Junction Road followed by an Inurnment in Oak Grove Memorial Gardens. Visitation for family and friends will be held immediately following the services at Mr. Powell’s home.
