Doris and I shared a job at Oak Grove for many years. She was always so kind, loving and sweet, not only to the children, but to me as well. She was a wonderful friend and I loved her very much. She will be greatly missed.

Allen/Leonard/Gower Families, My heart aches to know I cannot attend the Graveside service for Mrs. Leonard due to Covid-19. However, I want each of you to know that I cherished the years we worked together at Oak Grove and Spring Valley Elementary Schools from 2005 until 2011. We worked together as a team to teach the wonderful first-grade students we had over the years. Doris was a selfless person and she always gave of her love, time and talents to others. She adored her family and she would always tell me about each of you. Doris had a strong work ethic and was dedicated to her job. She was honored as TA of the Year for the 2006-2007 school year at Oak Grove Elementary among other recognitions of her work. Doris was a woman of integrity and honor and she saw the good in everyone. She never judged anyone. Each Christmas, Doris would always prepare the Christmas gift bags for our students. She would take time to make sure everything was just perfect. I could list countless other things she did in the classroom to enhance the educational opportunities of all students, but it would be too many to name. We had stayed in contact over the years through telephone calls and she visited me once while I was teaching in Clinton, NC. Around two months ago, we had a long chat over the phone and we laughed and discussed former students and the joyous times of us working together. I am so grateful to God we had that time to catch up. I will miss her smile and her cute laughter. She gave great hugs and children loved her for her kind nature and sweet demeanor. She was a hard worker and she strived to achieve what we all want in this world, joy and peace. Please know I will never forget Mrs. Leonard and I am grateful to God that he orchestrated us working together. It was all in his plan. May God continue to bless each of you and give you comfort during this time. Mrs. Leonard will be missed by countless former students, colleagues, friends and loved ones. Her good nature, kindness and spirit of friendship will live on through each of you. Thinking of you all! Terrence Moore Norcross, Georgia

So sad to hear about Doris. I have known her since her daughter was in kindergarten . We worked together at Oak Grove for a long time. We stayed in touch through seeing each other in neighborhood stores. She was always a sweet lady. Barbara Crabtree

My sincere condolences to my family and to those of Doris. Though many years have passed by since I last shared time with Doris, we grew up with only two homes between us. Some of my fondest memories are riding her bike up and down the yard and laying in her backyard in a hammock watching clouds. We enjoyed a wonderful childhood and will one day share eternity. With Love. Darlene
