Doris Wilkins Leonard

DURHAM – Mrs. Doris Wilkins Leonard, 66, entered the gates of Heaven on December 22, 2020, surrounded by her family.

Mrs. Leonard was born March 16, 1954 to Clarence and Mary Wilkins in Durham, NC.  She worked for the Durham Public School system for over 20 years and loved mentoring children and helping them achieve their goals.  Doris will be remembered as a loving and dedicated Wife, Sister, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, and friend.  Doris’ greatest happiness was achieved by spending time with her family. She was an inspiration to all of them with her love and generosity.  In her free time, she enjoyed spending time at the beach and loved to fish off the pier.  She was an avid animal lover and liked to spend time with her pets.

Mrs. Leonard was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Mary Wilkins, and her husband Bernice Gerald Leonard, whom she was happily married to for 35 years, prior to his passing.

Doris is survived by her two Sons, Scott Allen and wife Kim, and Steven Leonard; Daughter, Ashley Leonard; Sister, Louise Gower and husband Ronnie; Grandchildren, Tara Allen, Dru Allen, and Leanne Leonard; Great Grandson, Grayson Moore; and Nephew, Rock Gower.

Chapel service will be held Thursday December 31, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home.  Due to Covid restrictions, we kindly ask that everyone wear a mask and practice social distancing requirements.

Flowers are acceptable, or memorial contributions can be made to the SPCA of Wake County at 200 Petfinder Lane, Raleigh, NC 27603.
