Dorothy “Neenaw” Lee Blackwell

DURHAM- Dorothy “Neenaw” Lee Blackwell, 91, of Durham passed away on Monday, April 18, 2016. She was a native and lifelong resident of Durham, the daughter of the late Robert E. Lee and Gertrude Tisdale Lee. Dorothy was an avid gardener, loved bowling, and enjoyed keeping her great- grandkids. She was preceded in death by her husband, Odell S. Blackwell; daughter, Judith Andrews.
She is survived by her son, Karl Blackwell of Durham; brother, Paul Lee of Florida; sister, Mary Johnson of Durham, grandchildren, Susan Carter-Hainline of Durham; Beth Carter of Durham, Kameron Blackwell, Addison Blackwell and Brandon Mathis; great-grandchildren, Andrew Wade, Meaghan O’Mary and Cailyn O’Mary.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, April 20,2016 at 3:00 p.m. at Woodlawn Memorial Park. Pastor James Banks will officiate. Active pallbearers will be Andrew Wade, Tom Hainline, Addison Blackwell, Mark Buchanan, Sr., Brandon Mathis and Johnny Carter.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 20 from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. prior to the service at Hudson Funeral Home.
