Eddie Lee Edwards, 71, passed away February 26, 2022, surrounded by his family at the Durham VA Medical Center in Durham, N.C.
Eddie was born July 10, 1950, in Durham, N.C. to the late Jack Pickett and Essie Partin Edwards. He graduated from Southern High School in 1969 and later from King’s College with a diploma in business administration. Mr. Edwards proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy and was stationed in Saigon, Vietnam.
Eddie owned and operated Edwards Paint Company for years. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church, a 32nd degree Mason and a member of Oak Grove Lodge #750, and past president of the Painting Decorating Contractors Association Triangle Chapter. He always enjoyed having a good time; he was the life of any party and a great storyteller. His interests included classic cars, playing golf, family-oriented activities, making his famous eggnog, and reading.
Mr. Edwards is survived by his beloved daughter, Aaron Edwards May, of Savannah; adored granddaughter, Rachel May, of Savannah; sister, Patricia Rigsbee (Paul), of Durham; brother, Barry Edwards (Sandi), of Myrtle Beach; and many special nieces and nephews. Eddie will be dearly missed.
A memorial service with Masonic Rites will be held 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 3, 2022 at Hudson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tim Wheeler officiating. A celebration of life will be held following the service at Bralie’s Sports Bar 2 located at 4707 Hillsborough Rd, Durham, NC 27705.
