DURHAM – Mrs. Effie Lee Williford Luck, 85, passed away November, 12, 2021, at Pruitt Health Facility.
Mrs. Luck was born June 13, 1936 to the late Edward and Hattie Tart Williford in Newton Grove, North Carolina. She was known as a good cook, enjoyed gardening and was a former member and choir member of both Homestead Heights Baptist Church and later of The Summit Church.
In addition to her parent, Mrs. Luck was predeceased by her first husband, Clyde Dixon Mitchell, second husband, Milton Thomas Luck; son, Clyde Mitchell, III, daughter, Debra Lea Mitchell, brother, Milliard Williford and 2 great-grandchildren, Tara Jean Mitchell and Sarah Elizabeth Mitchell.
She is survived by her sons, Terry Dale Mitchell (Elizabeth) of Hillsborough, and Chris Edward Luck (Regina) of Raleigh; daughters Melody Mitchell Gilliland (Donald) of Leasburg and Linda M. Michael of Creedmoor; brother, David Williford (Joe) of Newton Grove; sister Elizabeth Brogden (Bobby) of Creedmoor, grandchildren; Chad Mitchell (Jennifer), Katie Mitchell, Kendra Price, Britnee Price, Chris Luck, Jr., Chelsea Osbourne and Cayla Luck, and Great-grandchildren; Kailie Azbill, Kelsee Alton, Kaitlynn Alton, Kaydin Hardy, Colin Hardy, McKenna Ware, Gavin Champion, Colby Osbourne, Faith Wynn, Easton Luck, Avery Mitchell, Everly Mitchell and Oliver Mitchell.
Serving as Pallbearers are Chris Luck, Sr., Chris Luck, Jr., Donald Gilliland, Chad Mitchell, Regina Luck and Terry Mitchell.
A visitation will be held Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Brier Creek Memorial Gardens in Raleigh. Pastor Jonathan Lenker will be officiating.
