Ernestine Cornetta Hooker

DURHAM Miss Ernestine Cornetta Hooker, daughter of the late Luther “Buddy” Hooker and Goldie Mason Hooker, was born on October 27, 1927 and departed this life on April 1, 2018.
Miss Hooker attended Durham Public Schools and received her Bachelor of Science Degree from North Carolina College. She received her Master’s Degree from Drexel University. During the course of her life she was a model, a teacher and a social worker.
Miss Hooker joined St. John’s Missionary Baptist at an early age. She served as church musician, until she relocated.
She leaves to cherish her memory her nephew, Marvin Leon Evans; her cousin Charles Barbee and many special friends.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 5, 2018 at 12 noon at St. John ‘s Missionary Baptist Church. Rev. Robert Daniels will officiate. Interment will be in Glenview Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Noon, before the service at the church.

God saw the road was getting rough,
the hill was hard to climb;
She gently closes her loving eyes
and whispered, “Peace Be Thine”
The weary hours, the days of pain,
the sleepless nights are passed
The ever patient worn out frame,
has found sweet rest at last.
