DURHAM Mr. George “Debo” Wilbur Stanley, 71, of 2002 Baptist Road, died on Monday, January 21, 2013.Mr. Stanley was a native and lifelong resident of Durham, the son of the late John Wilbur Stanley and Mary Medlin Stanley. He was founder and owner of Top Coat Inc., until retiring. He attended Shady Grove Baptist Church. He loved the outdoor sports, turkey hunting, small game hunting and fishing. He was an avid bow hunter and 3D Target Archer and was co-Founder of the Falls Lake Archery Association and was a member of the Carolina Archer Coalition. He enjoyed farming and gardening and sharing the harvest with his family and friends. He was known for his deep compassion, help and love for others.He is survived by his son, Johnny Stanley and wife, Jackie of Durham; one daughter, Barbara Wilkerson and husband, Scott of South Carolina; two sisters, Jackie Carpenter and husband, Ed and Becky Carpenter and husband, Bruce, both of Durham; three grandchildren, Hunter Stanley, Colby Stanley and Jordan Wilkerson; three nieces, Rhonda Edwards, Laura Adcock and Karen Kirby and three nephews, Earl Carpenter, Neal Carpenter and Terry Carpenter.Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. at Hudson Funeral Chapel, officiated by Rev. Jimmy Pulley and Pastor Frank Rice. Interment will be in Oak Grove Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Larry Ricks, Gary Rigsbee, Earl Carpenter, Neal Carpenter, Robert Keller and Brent Brogden. Honorary pallbearers will be Roy Dickerson, Ed Carpenter, Bruce Carpenter and Bill Blaylock. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home and other times at the home, 2002 Baptist Road. Flowers are acceptable.
