Gray Alexander Edwards, Jr.

DURHAM- Mr. Gray Alexander Edwards, Jr., 71, passed August 10, 2021.

Mr. Edwards, Jr. was born May 6, 1950 to the late Gray and Hazel Edwards, Sr. in Durham, NC. Gray was an active member of Bethany United Methodist Church and the Lizzie Grey Chandler Sunday School Class. He worked at Hillandale Golf Course as their groundskeeper, as well as enjoyed playing golf, until an accident prevented his return to work and playing the sport he loved. He enjoyed fishing at the beach and had a green thumb for doing yardwork. Gray will be remembered as being very active and having a perfectionist touch. He adored his three dog companions, Lucky, Lucy, and Little Girl. Gray will be deeply missed.

Gray is survived by his life partner, Sharon Stone; sons, Joshua Wall, Joshua Stone (Christopher Devito); daughter, April Stone-Mills (Janice); sisters, Delinda Johnson (John) and Nancy Grubb (Gerry); grandchildren, Jenna Wall and James Devito-Stone; nephew, Scott Johnson (Angela); and niece, Kelly Hales.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 13, 2021 at Bethany United Methodist Church with a visitation being held one hour prior from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Officiating will be Rev. Lisa Reynolds. Masks will be required to enter the church. Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery.
