Harvey Lee Craig

DURHAM Mr. Harvey Lee Craig, 91, of Durham, passed away on September 23, 2012, at the Veterans Administration Hospital.Born in Durham, he was preceded in death by his parents, William Cameron Craig and Iva Alice Craig, and his sister and two brothers.As a young man, during World War II he bravely served four years with the U. S. Army in North Africa and Europe. Harvey, a talented woodworker and craftsman, worked many years at Garland Woodcraft Company.Harvey believed with certainty in his Christian faith. He is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Hallie Kerr Craig, and three children, Linda Craig Daniel, Harriette Craig-Neghabat, and Sidney Keith Craig as well as seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.During many years as an active member of Angier Avenue Baptist Church, he worked with the youth. More recently Harvey and his family have worshiped at Olive Branch Baptist Church.The visitation will be held on Saturday, September 29 at 1:00 p.m., followed by the 2:00 p.m. chapel service, officiated by The Reverend Tim Wheeler. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park.Everyone in his family loved him deeply, and will forever miss him with all our hearts and souls.Flowers are acceptable. The family will receive friends other times at his home, 229 Hester Road.
