Heather Blackburn

October 12, 1984 — March 25, 2018

MEBANE Heather Blackburn, 33, of Mebane. As the snowflakes were falling down, a beautiful rainbow went up to the Heavens on (Palm) Sunday March 25, 2018 at 2:58 a.m. After a long and courageous fight against progressive health issues, Heather, received her sparkling wings. A native of Durham, Heather graduated from Southern High School and furthered her education at Greensboro College and Alamance Community College. There she received numerous accolades in scholastics and tennis. Adversely, her aspirations of becoming a Pharmacist were impeded by the increasing demands for therapeutic interventions. However, it was her resilient strength that carried her through many years as she awaited organ donations.

Her infectious smile and eclectic style literally sparkled like glitter everywhere she went. Her fun-loving spirit blossomed in everyone that surrounded her like the picturesque flowers that bloom each Spring. Her kindness radiated as she selflessly thrived to bring joy to others daily. She was an avid animal lover, especially dogs, penguins and ducks. She was passionate about cosmetics, as well as baking and tasting foods of various cuisines, even if that meant in the same meal! Heather never met a stranger and her legacy will forever be etched in the hearts of everyone. Every time you see a rainbow in the sky, please know that’s our Heather! During her illness, her strength came from her faith in God. She was of the Baptist faith and attended The Lamb’s Chapel in Haw River when her health allowed.
She was reunited in Heaven by her maternal grandparents, Wayne and Darlene Foster; paternal grandparents, Earl and Elizabeth Blackburn; step-grandparents, Hazel and Carolyn Baker; aunt, Kay Sauls as well as her beloved fur-baby Phoebe Buffay.

She is survived by her parents, Karen and Robert “Bob” Baker; step-brother, Brandon Baker (Krystal); step-sister, Stacy Baker; aunts, Julie Foster, Faye Scott, Shirley Huyett (John), Amy Baker and Mary Evans; Uncles, Danny Blackburn (Pat), Reid Hodnett; great-aunts, Tricia Crabtree (Tony), Pam Doyle (Graylyn) great-uncle, Danny Ragan (Dana); special cousins, Cameron Hodnett, Jake Blackburn, Christy Davis, Jason Holland (Lyndsie), Chris Holland (Amanda), Clint Crabtree and Brett Hester; special family, Sophie Baker, Jennifer & Rodney Martin, Raney & Donna Hester, Charlie & Trish Covington and her fur babies, Bandit & Bella.
Also, she is survived by her best friends, Tonya Cates McFalls, Crystal Carpenter Berry, Krystle Sutton Davis, Ashley Lorbacher and April Fleming.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 31, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Durham Memorial Baptist Church. Rev. Ed Denton will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Grove Memorial Gardens.
