Helen Elizabeth Kearns Cheek

CHEEKDURHAM Mrs. Helen Kearns Cheek, 88, of Durham, died on Tuesday, November 30, 2010.Mrs. Cheek was a native and lifelong resident of Durham, the daughter of the late Vance and Lydia Hursey Kearns. Prior to retiring from the Grey Stone Baptist Church Daycare she was employed with Wrights Machinery. She attended the Gospel Center and Mt. Hermon Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar M. Cheek.She is survived by three daughters, Bonnie Andrews and husband, Bill, Lynda Aibijeris and Rebecca Ann Cheek; one sister, Mozelle Ewing of Durham; three grandchildren, Spyridon and Dianthe Aibijeris and Paul Steelman; great-grandchildren, Talan Aibijeris and Kaleigh and Griffin Steelman and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Chapel, officiated by Pastor Rich Goodier. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home and other times at the home of her daughter, Bonnie Andrews. Flowers are acceptable. The family would like to thank the staff of Durham Ridge for all of their loving care and also Dr. Eugene Linfors for his many years of caring service.
